squares of hand dyed fabric

tiny squares

What can you do with your smallest scraps?  Sometimes I cut them into 1.5 inch squares that I’ve found  to be useful for lots of projects.

business card holders

card holder display

patchwork pincushion

checkbook covers, coin purses (and a card holder)

gift set

Someday, who knows, maybe I’ll make a postage stamp quilt out of these cute little squares!

  1. Oh, I just love tiny squares too!! And a postage stamp quilt would be awesome, but what an undertaking!! Sorry to hear you had computer problems, crashes are the worst. Hope everything was backed up 🙂

    1. Maybe the postage stamp quilt will be a “leaders and enders” project, since I have lots of squares already cut…I’ll add it to the list! Yes, fortunately, everything was backed up.

    1. I’ll look forward to seeing how you use them in your project. “Using up scraps” is a funny term for me, because practically everything I make is scrappy. If I don’t have the right scraps, I just whack up some yardage and make it into “scraps”!

      1. Haha. That’ll do it! I always start out BIG until I’m forced to scale my fabric cuts down as my stash gets lower. Another patience issue, I guess. 😉 I do love the look of scrappy quilts the best though!

    1. Good detective work, Paige. Yes, the pouch was made with some Essex linen scraps from a tunic that I made. That particular pouch is the one I carry all my hand quilting supplies in for traveling.

  2. These are so cool. super minimalist style! I love them all. I am lazy and don’t like cutting things into squares so I made a crazy quilt using all my small and crumb sized scraps, which I would love to do again once I get a big enough collection started. Hope it’s not too hot for you in the desert lands, it’s crazy hot here today!

  3. Thanks! I love improv piecing my little crumbs together, too. Sometimes they are so small they border on the ridiculous! Fortunately (or unfortunately), I never run out of scraps.
